Day 1
Welcome to Kenya! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International, you will be met by a Private Safaris representative and transferred to the hotel.
Day 2
After early morning breakfast, depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Arrive at your camp/lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, enjoy some free time to relax before setting off on an afternoon game drive. Masai Mara is certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya; its 650 sq km supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere. During the seasonal migrations, Masai Mara is home to up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebras that move into the area from the neighboring Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The reserve is home to all of the Big 5, and you will also be able to spot baboons, ostriches, bat-eared foxes, jackals, and cheetahs, while the rivers abound with hippos and crocodiles. (B,L,D)
Day 3
Wake up call and early morning tea/coffee. Set out for an early morning game drive in the reserve. This is usually the most popular game viewing time. During the early hours, temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere both for the game and the viewer. Lions, cheetahs, and leopards roam the vast grasslands in search of their next meal, be it an unsuspecting impala or a small warthog. Whoever the players are, watching the spectacle of nature unfolding is always awe-inspiring! Return to the lodge for breakfast. Mid-morning at leisure. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon game drive will follow returning for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)
Day 4
After breakfast, join your guide for a transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Serengeti Game Reserve. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to Serengeti Migration Camp for check-in and lunch. After lunch, spend the rest of the early afternoon at leisure before enjoying an evening game drive followed by dinner and an overnight stay. (B,L,D)
Day 5
Spend your day exploring Serengeti National Park. It is one of the best places in the world to see large predators like the lion, cheetah, and even the elusive leopard. You have the option of taking an early morning and afternoon game drive or a full day game drive with picnic lunch in the African bush. The treeless plains in this area provide the perfect habitat for cheetahs that have made this area of the park their permanent home. Your experienced guides know every inch of the territory around the area and this remote corner of the vast ecosystem never disappoints - buffalo, elephants, hyenas, and giraffes can all be seen close to the camp. Birdlife is particularly active on the forest’s edge, where woodpeckers and brightly colored kingfishers can often be seen. (B,L,D)
Day 6
After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro/Karatu area, arriving in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon at your leisure; optional activities are available. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge. (B,L,D)
Day 7
After breakfast, depart with a packed lunch to the famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which features rolling plains, lakes, craters, mountains, and dormant volcanoes. Journey up the side of the vast Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is one of the largest volcanic craters in the world. Descend into the 8th Wonder of the World, a unique biosphere that has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Enclosed within its towering walls and grasslands, swamps forests, saltpans, a freshwater lake, and a glorious variety of birdlife. Here you will also find all of the members of the Big 5 as well as a large cast of plains game and one of Africa’s densest populations of predators. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor before continuing your expedition inside of the land that time forgot. Climb up and drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)
Day 8
After breakfast, check out and drive to Arusha for lunch. After lunch, transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) for your departure flight. (B,L)
